The best place to enjoy a great winter in Quartzsite.
Welcome to Quartzsite a small Southwestern desert town where summer is an
almost an unbearable inferno. On most afternoons, as the sweltering heat
laps at the top of the boiling thermometer, only the waves of the heat can
be seen licking and dancing into the air. The small Town of Quartzsite
claims about 3300 residents,
Sometime in late September or early October the relentless heat begins to
subside offering bearable days and gorgeous evenings. While cold and rain
create an unpleasant environment in the Northern states, and Canada, the
Desert Southwest comes to life.
Suddenly Quartzsite is bulging with visitors from all over seeking to avoid
their own harsh winters at home. Highways from all points North, including
Canada, carry a steady stream of motorhomes and other RV's bound for their
"Winter homes" in the Desert Southwest.
Quartsite is one of the favorite spots where hundreds of thousands of these
"Snowbirds" bask and play the winters away. Estimates are that some 1
Million visitors enjoy sometime each year in Quartzsite.
Tens of Thousands of RVer's camp on the BlM camping areas, while others
prefer the RV Parks and facilities that the town has to offer.
You can find Quartzsite along Interstate 10 about 15 miles East of the
Arizona/ California border. If you lose your way - just follow the sun.
You'll eventually get to Quartzsite.
